You’ve probably heard the details. The 9-4X shares heavily in terms of structure and drivetrain with the Cadillac SRX, a vehicle that’s been on sale for about a year now.

However, we thought that Saab might perhaps mix things up, offering a turbocharged four-cylinder as the base engine below the 2.8-liter, 300-hp V6 that will top the range. Instead, the model will share both engine options with the Caddy, meaning the base powerplant will be a 3.0-liter V6 making 265 hp. Either engine is mated with a six-speed automatic.

You’ve probably also seen all the early photos of the 9-4X, but today we’re able to offer you a brand new set straight from a photo shoot we did yesterday afternoon in Malibu. We think they put the 9-4X into a new, more attractive light, but what doesn’t look better poolside in front of a gorgeous modern house? Click off to the right to see all the photos, which we might add depict the car in a different paint color.

The 9-4X will go on sale here in the US starting in May of 2011, with the rest of the world getting on board in August.
